So even with shitty nutrition, I am a lot stronger than I was a year ago, although it could have been better. Been super stressed and haven't been sleeping well (got laid off, other personal things going on) so I'm not surprised I didn't quite get the new PR. Even if I was eating 5000 calories of fried food and pizza, I made sure to get protein and creatine. Even a few guys in way better shape than me at the gym I go to have commented on the fact that I am actually starting to look like someone who lifts. I was too tired to feel anxiety about the lift (usually my biggest hurdle), but I just couldn't break the floor. I've personally been on Coolcicada's PPL with some of my own twists for about 2 years now and I've seen great results. I obviously could have done a lot of things differently over the past year and probably gotten better results, but I am very happy with my progress. Ok, so there are usually three exercises a powerlifter focuses on since these are the lifts in competition. On light days I used a belt and straps to get used to them. Squat 2. In the three weeks prior to this attempt, I had a baby (less sleep), had a bachelor party and wedding on the opposite coast (less sleep), and had a restless night prior. I only use the belt on my highest weight, not for warm ups, but man that made a huge difference for me. I set it up so I had sumo deadlifts as a T1 one day, and block pulls as a T2 the other leg day. Stats/Results. I've mostly been lifting in hypertrophy rep ranges the past few months, then did a block of Sheiko, then most recently a few weeks of my own RPE style setup. It was hard at times, but I think the year of body weight training I had helped a lot.
